How Your Newly Constructed Pool Can Benefit Your Exercise Routine

Toning your arms.

Stand with your feet apart, and arms extended in front of you with the ball in your hands. Push the ball under the water and move it smoothly to create a figure eight pattern. You should feel resistance in your arms and upper body. Be sure to stay balanced and repeat the motion at least 10 times. 

Jumping Jacks

Performing jumping jacks on dry land is an extremely high-impact activity. Moving the exercise into your pool is a great way to reduce the risk of injury and it adds a new level of difficulty to the movement. Executing the activity with the extra resistance from the water, creates an excellent aerobic exercise that enhances your cardiovascular health. Doing jumping jacks in your pool closely resembles the jumping jacks you would perform on dry land. Standing with your feet flat and together, and your arms at your sides, bend your knees and jump. As your feet leave the bottom of the pool, kick your legs out to the sides, point your toes and swing your arms out and above your head. You should land with your feet apart and knees bent. Finish by jumping up and bringing your feet together and your hands back to you sides.

Abdominal work-out

If you’re looking for a way to slim down your midsection, the wall torso twist provides you with a great abdominal exercise. Standing with your back against the wall in the shallow end of your pool, stretch your arms out to your sides and rest them on the edge. Supporting your body weight with your arms, extend your legs, so they are out in front of your hips. Keeping your legs together and parallel to the pool’s floor, press your lower back against the wall. Twist your torso to the right and have your legs follow. Hold your legs in that position for a brief second and then return them to the starting position before twisting to the left.
